I’m shutting down my pond – how do I access and clean the media in my Tempest or Surge filter?

Note: Regular cleaning usually prevents the need for deep cleaning. Do not add extra media—your filter already contains the correct amount.

Tempest Polisher

• Turn off the pump.
• Unscrew the top cap to access the media.
• Clean thoroughly with a narrow brush or hose.

Surge Filter

• Turn off the pump and UVC.
• Unscrew the UVC collar and carefully remove the UV bulb (do not touch the bulb).
• Carefully remove the quartz sleeve and store safely.
• Unscrew the top cap to access the media.
• Clean thoroughly with a narrow brush or hose.

Safety Tip: Handle the UV bulb and quartz sleeve gently to avoid breakage. Always store them somewhere safe while cleaning the filter.
