Hi about to fit a Automatic Pump Fed System to my nexus 220, been looking at some of the user videos and noticed because the plunger is not going to be in the easy that you loose quite alot of water from the biological outer tank hoping there is a level it can't go past, I have a trickle in and trickle out on my pond which is turning over around 750 litres of water a week planning on running a clean every 3 days. Any advice tips etc would be welcome.

    Hi Simon

The generally accepted practice is that when you keep ornamental fish, whether in a pond or in an aquarium, to keep the water fresh, around 10% of the volume of the water in the pond should be changed on a weekly basis. With this in mind, we recommend that you set your Nexus Automatic system to run a cleaning cycle so as to exchange water in line with this.
The 220 drains around 140 litres on each cleaning cycle, so this will be added to the volume of water you are exchanging each week.  This won't be an issue once everything is mature, but if possible, I would try to run the trickle slower for the first few months, as this will help your system mature faster.

    I hope this helps.

Hi thanks for getting back to me but I think you missed my question … the nexus is mature its been running for 5 years. my question was more to do with the auto system for cleaning. When I do a manual clean the plunger goes into the center of the Easy to stop the water level droppng on the outer bio chamber. When doing a auto clean the plunger won't be present and just wondered how low the bio chamber water level drops?

    Thanks in advance

    Simon.
