K+ media has both protected and unprotected surface areas, the protected being within the media core itself and this, by nature of its shape and size, ensures the biofilm and bacteria contained within it remain stable. Of course, this protected surface area will not be reached by the UVC as the key component of our media is HDPE which is UV resistant.
K+ Media has an overall surface area of 1,350m2 per m3, but more importantly for biological filtration, our sizing takes into account the protected surface area of K+ Media at 1,025m2 per m
